Florida Keys blackfin, sailfish grouper, permit
Florida Fishing RSS Feed

Both blackfin and skipjacks are just outside the reef and around popular known wrecks like the airplane and the submarine. Flag yellowtails are coming from Marilyn Shoal to the Western Dry Rocks in about 85 to 110 feet of water. Sailfish are starting to show and the bite should really improve. Slow trolling a dead ballyhoo will out-fish the live bait. Conchy Joe’s, Key West

Look for grouper fishing to improve. Live pinfish, grunts, and a variety of cut bait will all get the job done. With kings moving into the area, remember to keep a bait mid-water. Sailfish numbers continue to increase. Good numbers of chunky bonefish have been working the flats. Permit are around so keep a crab ready. Reef Light Tackle, Big Pine Key

Capt. Drew Moret reports the permit fishing is on FIRE. He and his clients are targeting the Biscayne Bay area to the 7-Mile Bridge. Fishing the top of the flats at the higher tides and the channels during the lowest parts is seeing impressive catches. When the winds lay down, he recommends targeting tarpon.
